RESOLUTION FOR A UNIVERSAL MORATORIUM ON THE USE OF THE DEATH PENALTY: ANALYSIS OF THE VOTE IN THE 3RD COMMITTEE

Le 11 novembre 2022, la 3e Commission de l’Assemblée générale des Nations unies qui travaille spécifiquement sur les questions liées aux droits humains a voté à une très large majorité en faveur du projet de résolution A/C.3/77/L.44 pour un moratoire universel sur l’application de la peine de mort.

The resolution was adopted by 126 states, with 37 states voting against, 24 abstaining and 6 not voting. The number of positive votes is the highest since the first resolution was presented to the General Assembly in 2007.
