Laurent was a board member for six years and General Secretary of ECPM for two years. From now on, he will be taking office with the ambition of pursuing and strengthening the action of our association in favour of the universal abolition of the death penalty.
He has been involved in defending human rights for years and co-founded and managed the Tournons la page movement. He is currently an independent consultant specialising in association governance and advocacy issues, and also teaches Sub-Saharan African geopolitics at IRIS Sup’.
I recognise the strength of the collective commitment that drives our association and the conviction that unites us: to abolish the death penalty throughout the world.
At a time when human rights and international solidarity are under systematic attack, we must show ingenuity and courage. By strengthening our collective efforts, forging new alliances and taking proactive rather than reactive measures, we will continue to keep the abolitionist movement alive and speak out forcefully in defence of fundamental rights.Following the highly successful 9th World Congress in 2026, I hope to work alongside all the board members to continue creating spaces for reflection, advocacy, awareness-raising and training in support of the universal abolition of the death penalty and, more broadly, fundamental rights.
