On 10 October 2018, young people from all over the world were invited to participate in the 4th edition of the international competition “Draw me abolition” organised by ECPM and the International Network on Education for Abolition. Aimed at young people under 18 years of age, this educational project aims to encourage the civic engagement of the younger generation on the theme of the universal abolition of the death penalty through an artistic approach.

This year, we received nearly 300 drawings from 14 different countries: Germany, Belgium, Benin, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, France, Italy, Lebanon, Morocco, Mexico, Democratic Republic of Congo, Tanzania, Togo and Tunisia.

This competition shows that the younger generation is in a position to take up this theme and engage with civil society actors and national and international institutions to demand the universal abolition of the death penalty. A catalogue containing the works of the participants will very soon be distributed to them, to partners and at upcoming abolitionist events.
